Location: Maison Selby (Parlour Room), 592 Sherbourne St, Toronto

Description: The marriage was at Toronto City Hall and carried the day into the Parlour Room at Maison Selby - a heritage Victorian house with carved dark wood, hand-painted scenic wallpaper, and a fireplace mantle that anchors the room. With a single long dining table at the centre and a small guest list, every arrangement had to hold up to close viewing.

We chose an all-white palette, kept lush and airy rather than tightly structured, so the flowers read bright against the room's deep tones. Instead of one long runner down the table, four low-profile compote arrangements were spaced along it, leaving clear sightlines across the table and room for the dinner service. The mantle arrangement was set to one side to frame the mirror rather than sit under it, echoing the asymmetry of the room.

Colour Scheme: All white.

Objective: To design an intimate, close-viewing floral suite for a single-table wedding dinner in a heritage Victorian parlour.

Flower Types: White anemones, white ranunculus, white lisianthus, white freesia, white hydrangea, astilbe.

Arrangements:

  • Bridal bouquet - small and white-focused, a 50/50 balance of ranunculus and navy-centred anemones with freesia, finished with a white ribbon wrap.
  • Groom's boutonniere - a single freesia bloom tied with green ribbon, chosen to stay fresh through a full day.
  • 4 children's boutonnieres - white lisianthus, scaled down and safety-pinned for guests aged two to five.
  • 4 low-profile table arrangements in gold footed compotes (12–14" W × 10–12" H), full and abundant, spaced along the length of the dining table.
  • 1 fireplace mantle arrangement (16–18" W × 16–18" H) with astilbe and trailing greenery, set to the side of the mirror.

The Parlour Room set for dinner, with four low white compote arrangements spaced along the long table and a matching mantle piece framing the mirror.

The bridal bouquet had white ranunculus and navy-centred anemones with freesia buds, hand-tied and wrapped in white ribbon.
